About the Role
Our client are a government organisation based in the South West region of Victoria. They are currently seeking a Finance Support Officer to come in and join their team on a permanent contract.
Candidates for this role must have:
- Previous CIVICA system experience
- Demonstrated experience and/or general understanding of accounting and finance concepts
- Previous accounts payable, and reconciliation processing experience
Key responsibilities will include:
Financial Reconciliation: Perform daily bank and ledger reconciliations, ensuring all customer receipts and subsidiary accounts align accurately with the general ledger.
Accounts Payable Management: Process creditor invoices, credit notes, and corporate card transactions while assisting with the execution of regular payment runs.
Month-End Support: Assist the Senior Accountant with month-end closing, including the collation and entry of general ledger journals and financial reporting.
Taxation Compliance: Collate data for FBT, GST, and fuel tax credit claims to ensure all statutory reporting obligations are met accurately and on time.
Systems & Database Maintenance: Maintain the integrity of the supplier database and financial records, ensuring all accounting system data is updated and processed promptly.
Team Support & Relieving: Provide cross-functional support to the Finance team and act as the Accounts Payable Officer during periods of leave or high demand.
Risk Management & Compliance: Adhere to internal controls and processes to prevent fraudulent activity and ensure all financial tasks meet Council policy standards.
About You
You will be an experienced Finance Support Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Previous CIVICA system experience
- Demonstrated experience and/or general understanding of accounting and finance concepts.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of finance system software.
- Previous accounts payable, and reconciliation processing experience
